Moroccan Women Empowerment Project

Hi friends + family!

If you know me well, you know that it has been on my heart for quite some time now to return back to Africa for an immersion service trip. I traveled to Ghana and South Africa on in college while participating in Semester at Sea during and truly experienced the gift of interconnectedness, gratitude, and joy of giving back to communities in need. A few weeks ago, I was connected with an organization called International Volunteer HQ which has just the right program for me and I instantly felt that call on my heart to respond. And now, God has opened up the door to make that happen! I will traveling to Rabat, Morocco on April 20th-May 2nd with International Volunteer HQ on a 10-day pilot program representing Box | Box.org.

At Box, we believe that those committed to doing good in the world should have the capacity to do it. Through this mission, Box.org provides social impact organizations [nonprofits] the resources they need to innovate and fulfill their mission. During this trip, I will be spending 10 days working on a Women's Empowerment Project focused on empowering Moroccan Women to run their own business, have a job and feel a sense of independence. Many women in Morocco suffer from poverty, illiteracy and unemployment, affecting their social environment and in turn their children’s education. The Women’s Education project aims to enable local Moroccan women to improve their literacy levels in English, French, and Arabic, and to focus on selling and creating crafts which are then sold both locally and internationally to help provide them with their own income stream. The reach of their current online platform is very limited, so I will be helping them focus on building their brand presence and leveraging Box's cloud content management platform to help them collaborate better with vendors and share their products both locally and internationally.

Also on this trip, I will be helping Refugees in Morocco acquire marketable skills. These young Moroccans are aware that speaking a second language will enable them to further their education and integrate well into the job market. I will be working with underprivileged refugees, providing training in English and information technology. These tasks include, but are not limited to, running small workshops, assisting local teachers and organizing educational games and activities.

As I prepare for this trip, I would love your prayers for safety and for God to work in and through me to help out these amazing Moroccan Women and Refugees. I would also like to humbly ask you to consider supporting me financially on this experience, as I would like to make a considerable donation to the local businesses and organizations that I will be supporting.

Thank you in advance for your charitable contribution :)
