Full STEAM Ahead @ Taylor Middle

Donación protegida

Taylor Middle School students, families and teachers deserve the STEAM experience!
Our students are curious and smart, our families supportive, and our teachers are talented, creative and innovative. STEAM teaching and learning should be part of the daily classroom environment so that our students have the same intellectual edge that most Bay Area schools offer their students, despite that fact that we are lowest funded school district in the Bay Area - we need to fight for these experiences that tap into our community's science, technology, engineering, arts and math talent!

Our science labs are out of date, our STEAM lab is non-existent, our Maker Space is a dream, and technology in the classrooms is not where it needs to be! We want for our students science labs that allow us to promote the Next Generation Science Standards, a STEAM lab that makes enginneering practices a reality, a Maker Space where we can bring Robotics to our students, and technology in the classrooms that students can use everyday. We want to the see the same emotions on our students faces as they have when touring the Exploratorium or the Academy of Sciences, we want this for our students and teachers and families.

We are wanting to raise $5000 to upgrade our science labs, $5000 to create a STEAM/Maker Space, and $5000 to improve technology in the classroom, and if we can raise more that $15K, we will be able to do so much more!

We will work with community organizations and local businesses to double-down on our efforts to raise these funds and more!

Our goal is to raise these funds before January 30, 2018, the date of our annual STEAM Fair, Food Science and Art Expo, so that we may announce at that celebration of learning that we have met our goal and even exceeded the goal! We will leave the campaign open until February 15 in order to bask in the glow of these amazing science projects!

We want ALL students to experience what it is like to operate a 3D printer to create a widget that solves a local problem, we want our students to use an Arduino Programming Kit to operate a robot that does a special task, we want our students to experience what it is like to fly a drone over a school event, to create a virtual reality environment, to create junk to funk projects, to code, to program, to present using Chromecast, and to wonder, plan, and create on a daily basis so that they are prepared for high school, college, and a lifetime of experiencial learning.

We will update our three science labs and five science classrooms, build out a dedicted space for a STEAM/Maker Space, and to upgrade three classrooms with improved technology, and if you support this cause beyond $15,000 we will do much more!

This is our opportunity to put Taylor Middle School back on the STEAM map, to honor what our students are capable of, and to appreciate the advocacy our parents have for their children's futures in school and the workplace - help us meet our goal with a donation, every little bit helps!

Thank you SO VERY MUCH!
