Want to join FSS in making a difference?
We are raising money to benefit the most vulnerable due to the Covid-19 crisis in Calgary, and any donation will help make an impact.
How are we going to help?
We would like to provide individuals and families with $100 per week in groceries, housing supplies and medications.
How long will the campaign take place?
It started on April 29, 2020, when the original plan was to keep the campaign alive for 6 months. 6 months have passed and the pandemic is still active so we have since changed it to an ongoing campaign likely until the pandemic is over, and we will continue to reevaluate this.
How much do we need?
The original estimate was $100 per person per week for 6 months. Given this is now an ongoing campaign we will reevaluate it on an as needed basis.
Who is eligible?
Every beneficiary application will be carefully evaluated by our Welcome & Assistance department based on the criteria below, which may serve as guidelines rather than mandatory requirements.
- A minimum fund balance is required prior to approving new members.
- Eligibility to external aid will be consulted, such as government or charitable institutions.
- FSS membership is not required.
- Calgary is the city of residence.
- Emergency cases only, such as high Covid-19 risk group, drastic family income reduction where government aid does not apply, etc.
- Legally allowed to reside in Canada and Calgary, AB. No nationality restrictions

- All receipts will be archived in FSS, and will be available to all donors upon request.
- If any money is left over, it will be donated to FSS in support of its activities.
