Friends of The Foxhole,
We have thus far had an excellent run at This campaign and learned a lot. We have had a birthday party at Upland that went wonderfully, and are now preparing for our open house for all to enjoy Saturday October 8th! Come one and all to enjoy Upland beer, TBA music, and a food truck or two!

Now, we are in the second phase of developement. We hope to make the next 3 years at this location a wonderful success and move into our final stages of the business model.  Here, we plan to acheive a lounge style atmosphere focused on neighborhood/community enjoyment, and a peaceful place to enjoy not only our great services during the day, but come in some afternoon for some pinball, or to read a book or enjoy steamy hot and icy cold beverages . Glory be the day we can offer you washing machines, live music and noshes from local vendors! That day is not far off, my friends.
Please consider investing TODAY!

The 5th Birthday of the extra-ordinary little grooming shop you know and love came upon us this past January of 2016! We are ready to do so much. We are ready to celebrate - of course, we are ready to move to our next phase of development, and lastly, we are ready to ask for YOUR help!

Below, I have outlined the story of my business.

The Well-oiled Circus Begins...

5  years ago, I started The Foxhole as a 'self-improvement' studio, serving men, women and children of our community.  A place where one could experience a  truly feel-good service, have a refreshing beverage and relax in a cool, no-pressure, vintage enviroment.

Since beginning my profession in 2006, I noticed a lack of attention to the individual experience. There seemed to be a void of great, therapeutic as well as entertaining personal service. So, after much appreciation of the places I’d been and mentors I had known, I felt I could best serve my clientele in my own creative environment.

The first stage concept of The Foxhole was to entertain and serve. My goal was to create a gender neutral venue that for many would encapsulate a feeling of comradery and support, as well as avoiding the common airs of the 'henhouse experience' -  thus the name, The Foxhole.

Brick Walls and Rubber Bullets

In January of 2011, I opened the doors of my private, 450 sq ft. music studio to host the first Foxhole location. For that first location I bought the biggest chandelier I could find, I installed a customized hair sink and styling station, and I bought all the means necessary for serving excellent french pressed coffee as well as treating customers to the first round of hot towel scalp massages.

To make ends meet while allowing my little studio to incubate, I started a spring and summer short-term business mowing lawns. At that time, I had a team of myself and 3 part-time young men mowing, and one assistant with me at the shop.  I think that spring thru summer, I mowed every lawn on 6th street between Adams and Rogers as well as blanketed a good section of the east side. It was an amazing time to be alive - I employed 4 people aside from myself, we had great customer satisfaction,  I looked great and felt great, and I was completely broke!  Any and all returns I made went into creating The Foxhole - it was up to me to make my desires come true and I would not let any obstacle I encountered do less than serve as a bolstering learning experience.

Ready, Set, GROW
In just one short year, The Foxhole grew from the support of long term clientele who I fed healthily on discounts for good word of mouth and implemented no other means of marketing. Without loans or outside assistance, my business was self-sustainable. So, in June of 2012, I moved The Foxhole into The May Building on 403 S. Washington with only myself and one assistant.  At that time, my father decided to loan me about $2,000 to do a build out of my new location. He did this unsolicited and I was thrilled as I had been planning to continue on my own. The small loan was a blessing. Along with my parents and a 5 person crew, I spent a week’s worth of sweaty days hashing out that second location. After the initial move in - all changes and additions have been incremental as we have afforded them, and functional in their investment as they can be transported wherever The Foxhole takes them!

The May Building location as many of you know it now, has been in a constant state of metamorphosis, a working masterpiece. Over the past 5 years, I have poured my all into cultivating this business and now - after making the most of our second location  - it is time to move!

We Choose To Go To The Moon
In the coming years, The Foxhole will continue building on the facets of our business model to even greater dimension! The Foxhole will be a place that invites clients come to for an array of multiple complementary experiences, in ways we hope will surprise and delight.  We have been working closely with business mentors and client feedback. We have teamed up with local businesses like Upland, and see excellent things coming our way with continued dedication!

Ch Ch Ch Changes
After 2 years of searching for the right property, The Foxhole has signed a 3 year lease at larger location with a much improved aesthetic to better entertain and serve you by.... Excitedly, I announce to you, that we will relocate only one, single block away from our current location!
May 1st, as we continue serving you from 403. S. Walnut - my husband and I take on the task of the build out of our new location. We will be installing all the necessary electrical and plumbing, new flooring, painting the entirety of a building, as well as extending the features you already know and love! Our plan is to expand the bar, gaming and seating areas. Our 3 barbering stations will remain much as you know them  cozy and individualized - only brighter, and more spacious.
So, today, I ask you for your help. A refundable donation, if you will. Building out and expanding is not only hard work, but it takes time and money, and there is only so much we can put in at a time, but with YOUR help, we can do this more expediently.  Please check out our tier of rewards, and consider giving us the push we will greatly appreciate!
A Foxhole Open House for all to enjoy will happen sometime in July! Please come enjoy an evening with us, local artists, refreshments and music. Details to come!
