The Home Education Foundation (HEF) is your Florida home education lobbying organization in Tallahassee, your voice at the Capitol!
Your support is vital! Without a full time lobbyist in Tallahassee the rights and privileges of home school families are at risk. Join us in funding a lobbyist for the 2019-2020 academic year. This funding will allow us to begin to train someone to replace our current lobbyist, Brenda Dickinson, in the future.
HEF is funded solely by donations from homeschool families across the state. Without your support, we have no voice at the Capitol.

Your donation serves to invest in the future of home schooling in Florida and to protect the freedoms and privileges you now enjoy. After you donate, please share this need with your home school friends, support groups, and co-ops.
The Home Education Foundation was formed in 1991 By Brenda and Craig Dickinson to help home educating families in Florida protect their right to home school their children.
Thanks to HEF Florida Home School Families enjoy:
~One of the best home education laws in the country
~Tuition-free dual enrollment at colleges and universities
~Extracurricular activities and sports at public or private high schools
~Bright Futures scholarships
~The elimination of the child abuse provision and the data base survey requirements
~An affidavit that allows home educated students to enter community colleges without getting their GED
~Florida On-line High School participation for non-public schools and home educators
~Access to the Gardner Scholarships
~Free books for dual enrollment classes at a state college
~and so much more.
HEF continues to work every year:
~Promoting and unifying legislative action among home educators.
~Evaluating and Monitoring issues which may affect home educators.
~Initiating, drafting and finding sponsors for legislation to protect the rights and expand the privileges of home educators.
~ Planning, directing and coordinating lobbying efforts.
~Educating Florida legislators about home education.
~Providing a year round presence and a consistent voice for home educators in the Legislature and Department of Education.
With almost 90,000 home educated students in Florida, if every home schooling family did just a little we would quickly reach our goal!
