This 8 day trip to the inauguration will include stops at some of America's most historically significant locations: The JFK assassination location in Dallas, TX; The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN; and George Washington's estate in Mount Vernon, VA. Our California Board of Education Approved Curriculum is designed so that students selected for this opportunity can also receive school credit.
The first trip was a huge success made possible in large part by the SEIU-ULTCW as well as contributions from private corporations, faith based organizations, and the generous support of ordinary citizens from all over the country. After receiving the blessing of national media coverage for our efforts in 2009 from KCAL 9 News and CBS 2 News, we know that we will need that same level of support to reach our destination again.
Spearheaded by veterans Billy G Ingram II (Eldest son of the Late Dr. Billy G Ingram of Maranatha Community Church in Los Angeles, CA) and Ronald Robbins (Founder of Robbinshood), the Fire Up the Bus 2 DC campaign is working hard to raise just $1,500 per student to cover transportation, lodging, meal, and educational costs. Although the cost is very low for this type of historical adventure, a large majority of our students come from homes that just can't afford it no matter how hard they try. That's why we're asking anyone who can help us to please donate whatever they can to support these deserving students.
America's young people need your help now more than ever. We strongly urge you to take action and stand with us as we work to create this incredible opportunity for the youth in our community. We have less than 3 weeks to reach our goals. Please help us make history again with a kind donation today.
