The F2L: RELIEF FUND provides commissary support to Black, Indigenous, and people of color who are queer, trans and/or two-spirit and incarcerated in New York State.
Getting money in someones commissary fund is an extremely important way to support people currently incarcerated. The funds enable people to purchase things they desperately need like clothes food, hygiene products as well as gender affirming clothes, electronics and other items.
F2L provides $300 a month of commissary support for 6 months, $1800 total per person
F2L makes commitments to people when they have funds to fulfill the full $1800. They currently have over 30 Black, Indigenous, and people of color who are Queer, Trans and/or Two Spirit on the waitlist to receive commissary support.
We need your help to support people on the inside. F2l is currently pushing to raise $60,000 to make commitments to 32 people on the Commissary Waitlist right now.
Help us meet our goal of $10,000 that will put a dent in F2L’s waitlist and directly support 5 people.
In the last newsletter F2L shared,
“Many of the people that wrote us took the time to tell us a little about themselves and what this money would mean for them. We received close to 20 letters from Black and Latina transwomen, many of them stating that they had no support on the outside. One person even stated she had been writing LGBTQ organizations trying to get even a few dollars in commissary support, but to no avail. Some letters detailed how damaging it felt to resort to trading sex inside to get essential items like gender affirming clothes.”
