Help for sweet Everleigh

For Everleigh Pierce... daughter of Craig and Kerry Pierce.
On February 11, 2013, Everleigh Pierce was rushed to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto with difficulty breathing. In the devastating days to come, the family would learn that Everleigh was born with a very rare heart and lung condition called Pulmonary Hypertension. The chances of one being born with this condition is 1 in 3 million. Unfortunately, there is no known cure.
Over the last two weeks, Everleigh's condition worsened and she was taken to ICU. Here, they were able to monitor her closely and administer tests and trial medications to help to slow her heart rate and control her breathing. We are grateful to be able to say that she is no longer in ICU and is breathing on her own. She's even been able to make trips to the play room with big sis Payton. Craig and Kerry have never left her side, forced to leave 10 month old CJ in the care of Grandma and Grandpa Pierce and oldest son Colton with Grandma Pertan at the farm.
It is heartbreaking and difficult to understand how such a thing could happen to this beautiful, sweet baby girl. We have since learned that Everleigh will soon be released from the hospital and able to go home. The road ahead is uncertain and poses considerable stresses and challenges for Everleigh and family, including medical expenses and significant changes to her home environment.
Many of you have offered condolences and expressed wishes to help in any way. There is no way to measure what costs Craig and Kerry will incur during this time. Consider the cost of travel to and from Toronto, hotel rooms, eating out, medical expenses, lost wages, and home improvements to make her home a safe one to return to. We have set up this site in hopes of relieving some of the financial burden on the Pierce family.
