Everest Fighting Parkinsons

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a disease that kills nerve cells in the brain that help control movement. This disease is progressive, meaning that it gets worse over time. As of right now there is no cure for this awful disease.

On Saturday September 9th 2017, I will be partaking in a cycling challenge called the Everest Challenge. This entails cycling for a elevation gain of 29,029 ft (8,848 m) all in one ride. I will be attempting this feat to raise money for two charities: the Davis Phinney Foundation and the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The Davis Phinney Foundation is a foundation focused on making the lives of people with PD more comfortable. I chose this foundation as I have seen the impacts of PD first hand having an uncle and a grandfather who are both battling the disease as you read this.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation focuses on finding a cure for PD. While I firmly believe that people suffering from PD should live comfortably, I do not want anyone in the future to have to deal with the pain that Parkinson's gives.

I will be splitting the donations 50/50 between the two foundations. More information about the charities are linked below. Any contribution helps. Thank you.
