Eve's Bilateral TPLO Surgery

Donation protected

Eve is a 1 ½ year old little girl that we adopted on December 11th, 2016 from Seattle Humane Society. In her first days with us, we noticed her favoring her left leg a little and took her in to our family vet. She didn’t seem to be in too much pain and we had no real idea of what she endured before coming to us so we decided to just watch her closely and see. After another week her leg continued to bother her so back to the vet we went, this time for x-rays with a radiologist consult where we learned she didn’t have any obvious bone issues but something was definitely causing inflammation so an appointment with a specialist was scheduled. Over the holidays waiting for her appointment she started limping more not wanting to put weight on her left leg.

On January 10th we met with the specialist and learned that she had ACL injuries in both her legs, a full rupture of her left and a partial tear in her right. Given her size and age, the recommendation from the specialist is a TPLO surgery in both her knees to give her the best chance at a healthy, active life for many years to come.

Anyone who knows me or Phil knows that we believe whole-heartedly that our pets are family. Eve is ours completely, our child and we love her and want her to have a happy, healthy life with us, so for us there is no option but to get her the care she needs. Unfortunately the timing could not be harder for us. Over the last year we’ve drained our savings accounts for Bubba’s medical struggles and then his passing, my own medical issues and the large cost associated with immigration for Phil to move from Canada for us to be married soon (which also means he won’t be able to work for a few months once here). Just this last month for Eve, between her adoption and medical care so far, we’ve paid just over $1000 already and the surgery and rehab for her needed surgeries is estimated to be over $7000 more.

Normally, I am the last person who would ask for help and have gratefully had the means and opportunity to help others for many years, but I find myself in the position today needing to do whatever I can to help Eve have every chance she can for a healthy, active future. Any help at all would be amazing and so appreciated.
