Costa Rica Mission Trip!

I have an exciting opportunity this summer I'd like to share with you! From May 24^th (my 20^th birthday!) to June 1^st, I will be traveling to San Jose, Costa Rica to work with an organization called Operation Mobilization (OM). The heart of this organization is to share who Jesus is and the hope that He offers by loving and caring for the Costa Rican people. Our team will be working with two of their ministries.
The first part of the week our team will focus on the streets of San Jose. This is the capital of Costa Rica, where prostitution and poverty exist next door to riches and comfort. OM runs a ministry for women who come from abusive situations. It helps them develop a skill that will enable them to get back on their feet and take care of themselves. Our team will be meeting these women, encouraging them as well as learning from them. We will also work within a homeless ministry and a ministry for those who have been affected by AIDS.
The second part of our trip will be spent in the indigenous region of Talamanca, a region to the south of San Jose. Talamanca is one of Costa Rica's poorest areas. There is no electricity, very few communities have running water, and most people there sleep in huts on dirt floors. Our team will be living alongside the people in Talamanca in the same conditions they live in. OM's main focus here is primarily on evangelism and community development. We will be going door-to-door meeting people, sharing the Gospel, and praying for those who desire it. We will also be helping build some structures that will benefit the community. Additionally, we will take part in running a childrens ministry and nightly services.
Our team is going to help where we can. My heart is to obey God when He says to care for the widows and the orphans (James 1:27), and I believe that God is calling me to do that in Costa Rica this May. I am excited for how He will grow me through this experience.
I am building a support team, and I would love to have you in it. First, I would love to have your support through prayer. God will work in big ways in Costa Rica, and I am so excited to be part of that! Please pray for our team, that we will be unified and obedient to God, for the work we do to be glorifying to Him, that the work of our hands would be blessed, and that God would use us to show love, truth, and encouragement to both the missionaries in Costa Rica and the Costa Rican people.
The total cost of the trip is $1,600 per person, which, for a broke college kid seems like $16,000,000! I have a part time job and contributing what I can as well. In order to cover this cost, we need partners to help send the team. I would really appreciate your contribution. I believe that God will provide every dollar I need for this trip. I honestly can't think of a better way to spend my birthday than embarking on a mission trip to spread His word and ultimately His love and grace.
