Dear Family, Friends and Members of the Community,
I am currently a Senior International Baccalaureate Candidate at Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw, North Carolina. I am very passionate about social justice and civil rights. I have always believed that everyone should be judged by their character, and not by the color of their skin,gender, or any other immutable factor. Consequently, I founded the African-American Association at Marvin Ridge High School, to ensure that students of color were given a voice. I am currently the President. I am also a member of Speech and Debate team at my High School, the National English Honor Society, Rho Kappa , the National Social Studies Honor Society , the National Society of High School Scholars, Jack and Jill of America, and the Usher Board at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church
.Additionally, I have participated in many summer programs at Georgetown University, American University, Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have held offices and participated in many activities in church, school, and my community.
I am proud to have been selected to participate in the 2014-2015 RPO, Inc. Debutante Scholarship and Cotillion Program. The mission of Rho Psi Omega is to provide programs and services designed to improve the community, and to promote the involvement of its members in sustainable civic and charitable efforts. It is my pleasure to work with this wonderful organization! As a debutante I have a personal goal to raise $10,000.With your help I will reach my goal. My future goal is to attain a Bachelor of Science Degree and attend law school. I plan to become a lawyer who specializes in International and Human Rights Law.
