Erin's seizure alert dog

Erin Jo Miller is a bright, joyous young girl who's infectious smile and laugh can light up any room. She is the sweetest, most loving child you can imagine. Four years ago she had to have cranial vault reconstruction to widen her skull. She has Craniosynostsis where the sutures in her skull closed before they should. She had to have the reconstruction surgery to give her brain the room it needed to grow.


Erin's entire life was turned upside down again 3 months ago. Erin has recently been diagnosed with a seizure disorder. She started having unexplained debilitating headaches that we now know were caused by seizure activity. She has now been diagnosed with tonic colonic and complex partial seizure disorder. Although we know a seizure assist/alert dog can not cure the seizures it can give her the ability to go places and do things without wondering "what if". You see, not only will this dog be her constant companion he/she will be able to alert her before the seizure starts and get help for her. He/she can also protect Erin during and after by keeping from her harm during an absent seizure. She also suffers from a condition called Todd's Paralysis that can occur after a tonic colonic. It affects her right side and can leave her weak and off balance for up to an hour after each event.


Erin has been accepted by CARES Inc. to receive a medic alert dog to help her adjust to this new life. We just need to come up with the reimbursement fee and equipment necessary. Any help would be a huge blessing. Thank you in advance from Erin and family.
