Our Emma Grace was born March 17, 2018, our St. Patty's day girl!
We found out when I was 12 weeks pregnant that our sweet girl had a very elevated nuchal fold which required further testing. We were scheduled for a more in-depth ultrasound at 16 weeks where we learned she may have a Congenital Heart Defect. At 20 weeks, when she was a bit bigger, they confirmed she did indeed have a heart defect;Tetralogy of Fallot, and it would require an open heart surgery within her first year of life.
What is Tetralogy of Fallot?
A heart defect that features four problems.
-A hole between the lower chambers of the heart
-An obstruction from the heart to the lungs
-The aorta (blood vessel) lies over the hole in the lower chambers
-The muscle surrounding the lower right chamber becomes overly thickened
We had an appointment today with her Cardiologist, went over the symptoms Emma was having and the Cardiologist and Surgeon decided to schedule her surgery 12 days from now. We were originally told 2-3 months but they want it done sooner.
Emma will have her preoperative appointment April 23, Open heart surgery April 24th and will be in the hospital a minimum of 1 week. Wesley(my husband) and I would really like to stay close to the hospital since she will be in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and we won't be able to stay in the same room as her. We live 30 miles South of the hospital and being that far away after a major surgery is a scary thought.
We would really like to stay at one of the hotels right on the hospital's campus. Staying at a hotel right there will allow us to visit from the moment we wake up till the moment we're about to fall asleep without having to worry about driving home or dealing with rush hour traffic in the mornings and the evenings.
We also have 2 dogs that would need boarded while we are away.
However, with the surgery being 12 days from now, financially we cannot afford to stay at a hotel plus parking, and boarding the dogs. We would really like to be able to focus solely on our little girl and her healing while she is at the hospital while being by her side, and staying Downtown would allow us to do so.
Please help us make this possible for us!
