Elliot Bognar's Eagle Project

I’m Elliot Bognar, Life Scout of Troop 19 in Muskego, WI. I officially started in scouting as a Tiger Scout at 6 years old. However, being the youngest in a family of 5 sons, I was taken on many Cub Scout events well before then. I have remained constantly active in in Boy Scouts.


Now with all my Eagle-required merit badges earned, I am embarking on my final phase of my scouting career, completing an Eagle Scout Project. I am eager to lead a service project to help better my community.

 My other interests include singing in my high school’s top choral groups and playing for the school tennis team. Next year after I graduate, I plan to go to college and major in human resources.

My Eagle project involves restoring a building in my city’s historical society’s settlement. This structure is named the Wollman House, which was the home of the pioneering James McDonough family. Later, it was used as the “summer kitchen” on their farm. This building was presented to the historical society by Harold Dickfuss in 1975.

Over time the exterior siding has fallen to such disrepair that a simple paint job will not suffice. This summer I plan to lead scouts and adults in replacing the siding on three sides of the building and painting the entire structure. Replacing siding is a more ambitious task but it will result in securing a longer future for the historic building.

I am a novice when it comes to home remodeling but I have a great mentor, Kevin Anundson, assistant scoutmaster and co-owner of Owner Assisted Remodeling. I will finish this project having learned carpentry and leadership skills.
