Ellie Gwen's Heart Transplant Fund

Ellie Gwen is a beautiful 19 week old baby girl. She is currently at Children's Medical Center in Dallas waiting for a heart transplant. She was born on June 2nd this year and as far as her parents knew she was a healthy baby girl. Their world was turned upside down after a slight heart murmur turned into something much worst. She was rushed to Children's Medical City 2 days after being born with an undiagnosed heart condition. Her parents later found out that she has Hypo-Plastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Basically the left ventricle of the heart never formed. To complicate issues she also had a really bad leak in the tricuspid valve. At a week old Ellie underwent her first open heart surgery which was to Hybrid Norwood. Then at 3 weeks old she went under again to have a g-tube (feeding tube) placed and a nissen (they take the top of the stomach and wrap it around the bottom of the esophagus) done. She was sent home at a month old and began to thrive. Ellie's Cardiologist called at the end of July to say that Children's Medical Center in Dallas wanted to run some test to determine if Ellie would be able to proceed with the second of three surgeries or if she would need to be listed for heart transplant. After a few weeks of tests and waiting for results it was determined that Ellie would need a new heart. On August 15th Ellie was officially listed on the heart transplant list. Near the end of September Ellie started to show signs of heart failure so she had to go back to the cath lab so they could see if there was anything they could do to help her little heart. They ended up having to balloon a few places while placing stents in to hold the arteries open and also strechted the PA bands to allow more blood flow. Ellie is currently doing great and just waiting for the call. All donations will help Ellie and her parents with medical expenses and out of pocket costs that go along with waiting for a transplant and the numerous trips to doctors appointments they will have to take through out Ellie's life.
