A loving dog with watchful eyes

On August 12th, 2014 our lives changed forever.  Our daughter Eliya was about to have her first day of kindergarten.   We had been looking forward to and planning for this exciting event for months. Kindergarten is such an important milestone in every parent and child's lives.  Sadly, we didn’t get to experience that first wonderful day until several weeks later. That morning did not go as planned.  Instead we were frantically dialing 911 as our healthy daughter, started having something which was later determined as a seizure.  We knew nothing of this---this was something we had only heard about. After monitoring and numerous tests at the Hospital , we got the devastating news that our daughter was ‘epileptic’.  Our hearts were crushed!  How could this be?  Why?

After that August day, her Epilepsy decided to come out with a vengeance!  We spent countless hours during numerous Hospitalizations and Dr. visits with many more tests. We have talked to several doctors and researched anything and everything to make us more educated. There TRULY  is not enough research.  This disease has so many more layers left to be uncovered.  Unfortunately, we are still unaware of her type of epilepsy.  It’s been months now and we haven’t received all the answers we’re looking for.

As parents of a child with epilepsy, we have new responsibilities and challenges to take on.  Obviously, we need to make sure she is getting good medical care, but there is so much more to it than just that. There are other health concerns and anxiety..Especially for a child! We are concerned about how she and those around her will cope if she has a seizure when we are not around.  As you can imagine, we constantly fear when the next seizure will happen.  What will happen when we, her parents are not by her side during an emergency?

Through our research, one of the main things that we feel would be helpful in obtaining some peace in our minds and hearts for us as parents when we are not around is………….A Service Dog that could possibly one day detect seizures as well as trained to rescue in Water (Swimming+Epilepsy=scary for the parents). Unfortunately, these dogs are very expenisve along with their training. In our situation anywhere from $3,800-$5,200. With our Family and Friend's support ....The donations will go to The purchase and training of an amazing service dog and our companion.
As A family having this Dog would bring us so much peace of mind and less sleepless nights, and giving us another set of loving and watchful eyes and ears to help!

Thank you for considering our Family's humble request.
