Elise's Fight against IIH

Idiopathic Intracranial
Hypertension:
Idiopathic: unknown causes or reasons
Itracranial: inside the cranium (skull)
Hypertension: abnormally high pressure

Elise Liles was diagnosed with IIH on June 8, 2013. Her body thinks she has a nonoperable brain tumor, however no tumor is present. There is no cure for IIH. Sometimes medications will help ease symptoms, sometimes a Spinal Tap is needed to relieve pressure temporarily (Elise has had 6 in 7 months) and sometimes a shunt is placed surgically to help drain off the excess cerebral spinal fluid. Elise has spent over 1 month in the hospital in in a 7 month period along with multiple Doctor visits, procedure and appointments out of state. She has been life flighted 3 times and ambulanced across state lines once. This is a lifelong condition with no 100% cure. Just temporary fixes. Individuals with IIH suffer with: head pain that will not be relieved with pain medication, visual changes, double vision, blurred vision, possibly blindness (25% go blind), back, arm and leg pain that is sharp; a stiff neck or trouble moving your neck, dizziness, trouble maintaining balance, numbness in your arms and legs, memory loss and trouble with your memory. Other signs include fatigue, nausea, vomiting and spinal fluid discharge through your nose.

Travel expenses for her family along with high insurance costs have depleted her families resources. Any donation will be extremely helpful.
