Life Saving Surgery for Elina Wampanti

I am raising money to give Elina Wampanti life saving surgery.
During a recent "Gap force" project in Ecuador 2 groups of volunteers worked in a village with an indigenous amazonian community
During this project we re-rooved and painted two rundown school buildings and helped to build a new nursery.
****We also met a young girl called Elina and this is her story***
On 26th December 2010 Elina, 5 years old, swallowed a coin that got stuck in her throat.
With Surgery Doctors managed to remove the coin.
Unfortunately from the surgery Elina was left with a perforated oesophagus, and damged trachea.
Cosequently she receives a special food supplement through a syringe directly to her stomach.In addition Elina suffers from abnormal closing of the trachea this often prevents her from breathing all together. Until now it has always re-opened but could easily prove fatal.
Elina has a special food supplement called "pedia sure" which is administered through a syringe. This costs $45 weekly. Which is an incredibly large amount of money for the family to raise. Consequently the food supplement cannot be provided and the family use porridge instead leaving elina without crucial vitamins and minerals and making her mal nourished. This causes Elina to become ill much more easily and she has been suffering from pneumonia for some time.
Surgery can cure both of the problems that Elina is suffering from. This will prove extremely costly at around $3000.
Her parents have already sold their farm to keep up with costs of food and so now have no regular source of income.
We want to raise $5000 (approx £ 3000)
The money collected will go towards surgery to reunite her oesophagus and buy food supplement for 12 months
Elina is a fantastic girl from an extroadinary community and a family that cares for her very much.
