Once in a Lifetime for Eli Woolms

Hi! I am the mother of an amazing 14 (almost 15) year-old child, Elijah Woolms, & I am starting this campaign in hopes of sending Elijah to one of the most unforgettable & truly fascinating places on earth, Havana the capital of Cuba. But we need your help…

The breakdown

Elijah will need to raise approximately $1900

A deposit of $500 is due by January 8, 2018

$1,400 due by February 7, 2018

What the cost covers

·       Airfare

·       7-night accommodations in Havana (April 8-15th)

·       Meals

·       Transportation

·       Cuban Visa

·       Speaker fees

·       Admission to all museums & public buildings

·       Full time guide

·       Compliance with U.S. Treasury Dept regulations

A glimpse at the itinerary

Elijah would get to visit the picturesque fishing village of Cojimar, La Finca Vigia (formerly the home of Ernest Hemingway), & participate in discussions with Cuban diplomat, Carlos Alzugaray & Dr. Marcelino Feal, Professor of General Surgery at the Univ. Hospital Calixto Carcia.

Elijah would be traveling with Cuba Educational Travel (CET). CET is a leader in educational travel to Cuba by providing access to top academics, community programs, government organizations, leading cultural figures & everyday Cubans.

Your support will impact Elijah’s life

The skills & experience Elijah will gain from traveling abroad will build confidence & an ability to adapt in foreign situations. Traveling in a foreign country can be intimidating. When you learn how to overcome the obstacles of navigating & communicating with others in a foreign country, you learn perseverance & realize that you can achieve your goals no matter the challenges.

It can also teach a person the value of kindness & show them a lifestyle of humility by engaging with the locals. "I believe the most important thing that Cuba taught me is that we can be happy and kind even with much less than we already have."  - 2017 S Markes The Spot

Elijah continues to demonstrate commitment & enthusiasm for learning with an open heart & mind.
He looks up to his Spanish teacher, Mr. Lazo, who is coordinating this trip for the students at North Creek HS. He remains steadfast in his academics & flourishes in his Spanish class. He recently joined a Spanish culinary class at his school. I can't wait to try the spanish rice he is learning to make!

Thank you so much for all of your support. Elijah would not be able to complete this journey without it!!!
