Hi everyone,
My name is Julia and I currently live in MA. For the past fifteen years, my mom has been fighting a tough battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Over the last couple of years, her health has severely declined. She depends on a power chair to get around her home and needs assistance in the simplest of tasks, such as buttoning her pants, or putting on her shoes.
Currently, one of her most troubling symptoms is severe edema. I am hoping to raise money to purchase a power recliner that she can use to elevate her legs above her heart to relieve the swelling and the pain associated with it.
I got married in 2013 and moved three hours away from my mom. I feel so helpless knowing that I can't be there to help her every day. It breaks my heart hearing that the frequency of her falling is increasing, or that no one was home to help her get up so she was stuck in one place for hours, sometimes on the floor. Even though I can't personally be there for her, I am trying to do whatever I can to raise money to get her the tools and the help that she needs until a cure is found.
For those of you that know my mom, I would love for this to be a surprise for her. I would even love it if those who donate be present when we reveal the chair to my mom!
