El Paso Victims Fund

Ruben Martinez, a sixth-grader from El Paso, Texas, has challenged the nation to perform 22 good deeds, one for each of the 22 innocent people murdered in the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas. He’s called it the #ElPasoChallenge.

We decided to answer his challenge by creating this GoFundMe campaign to support the families of those killed in recent pass shootings in El Paso, Dayton and Gilroy.

Will you do the same by making a small donation to take a stand against hate. (No through September 11, 2019, we'll match the first $5,000 raised.  You can help put us over the top!

100% of your contribution (and our match) will be donated to the El Paso Community Foundation. Because the El Paso shooting occurred within the same week of other mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio, and Gilroy, California, a total of 25 percent of the total funds raised through this campaign will be donated in a similar fashion to the victims and/or their families suffering in these communities as well, working through the Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund , and the Gilroy Foundation.

Who Are We?

We are members of the 9/11 community that, on September 11, 2001,  lost loved ones, friends and colleagues in an attack also driven by hate.  Today we proudly stand with the community of El Paso, with other communities impacted by domestic terrorism, and with all Americans who reject hate and racism.  We are supporting this campaign through the respected nonprofit 9/11 Day, founded by members of the 9/11 community soon after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Having also been born out of tragedy ourselves, we share a very strong emotional bond with other families who have had to cope with the sudden and tragic loss or injury of loved ones in any act of violence that is driven by hate and racism, such as the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, which killed 22 and injured more than two dozen others. We also share Ruben’s belief in the power of good deeds. Since the 2001 terrorist attacks, our organization has encouraged Americans to observe each 9/11 as a national day of service by doing good deeds that help others.

Will 9/11 Day Keep Any Funds?

No. 100% (less credit card or donation processing fees by others) will go directly to these organizations, which have pledged to contribute 100% of the funds raised to the families of those killed, and those injured in these horrific mass shootings.
