Ta'Janae Griffin [email redacted] This year, I Ta'Janae Griffin, a young woman born and raised in Watts, California has the opportunity to participate in the International Youth Initiative Program, where I will live and study for one year with a class of young people from all over the world. This is not only an opportunity for me, but also a chance for our whole community of Watts to be represented on a global stage. In order to make this dream possible, I will need to raise the funds to support my journey. This will require strength and generosity from a broad community of support.   What is YIP? The International Youth Initiative Program (YIP) is a global school in Sweden training youth in leadership development, entrepreneurship, and social change. The purpose is to prepare youth all over the world to start initiatives that contribute to a healthy, peaceful and vibrant future. I am a young woman with excellent character, a history of positive achievement, and a commitment to community service. I started school at Nickerson Gardens Recreation Preschool and went on to attend several local neighborhood schools including Flournoy Elementary, Markham Jr. High, and eventually graduated from Washington Prep on 2009. I continued to pursue my education and in 2012 I celebrated my completion of an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and Administration of Justice at Southwest Community College. Community has always been important to me and over the years I have often found myself volunteering at the recreation center. I have helped kids with dance, participated in community clean-ups and other local events. I like to known as a caring sister, daughter and a trusted friend. My family and I couldn't ask for a better young woman to invest in. With your support, I can go out to represent Watts to the world and continue to shape a future that my community can be proud of.   I have to raise $15,000 to cover all expenses for the year All sponsors will receive updates on my international experience and be invited to an event at the end of the year when I return to share some of the things that I learned with the larger community.   Help me reach my goal any contribution is welcome and appreciated!
