Help Educate Michelle Eagle!

Hi my name is Michelle...Most of you know me and some of you may not. I am here to ask for some help (something I have a hard time doing...and have had to learn the hard way to do so), but with the help and encouragement of my family and friends...here I am!
I have been accepted into the Loyola Marymount University Extension Program to earn a certificate in the Alcohol and Drug Counseling Program. The first semester starts in 3 short weeks and classes meet once a week...I didn't realize things were going to move along so quickly. So here I am asking for your help to raise money for tuition and books.

My family and friends have been amazing at helping me get back on my feet (most of you know my story) and for those of you who dont...I was on vacation at Chowchilla State Prison for Women for two years and lived in a residential recovery program for 9 months coming home in May of 2010. I have been sober for 6 years (on Aug 28th) now and feel absolutely great about it! Since I have been home my husband has allowed me to spend my time volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, running school fundraisers and volunteering all over the place for our 9 year old daughter since I was not able to do for our now 22 year old daughter. Well it has been 4 years...and I am ready. I am ready to put on my big girl panties...let go of fear...and move forward with my new career.
My passion is to be able to give back to people in recovery the same way my program and my counselors did for me. I want to help encourage those who do not have the support, coping skills and resources as they are going back into the real world after treatment or a long term sentence. Chloe always asks me why people that I don't know always stop me to talk about their problems...I say it's a gift. A gift I don't want to let go of!

This program at LMU will allow me to earn the hours and credits required to take the CAADAC exam (which is one of the most recognized certifications in the drug and alcohol world). I will also be working on a Peer Recovery Credential (PR & ADC) as well as taking online classes to be certified as a registered expressive arts consultant/educator (art therapy practices (REACE). A combination of all things I am passionate about...recovery and art!

Please help me make my dreams come true!  I refuse to give up! Please share my story!
