Eddie P. Recovery Fund

Eddie Paliescheskey is 57 years old. On January 8th he was working his job at Gadsden Regional Hospital in Gadsden Alabama. He called his mother and told her he was not feeling well. His mother told him to go see a doctor. Eddie then called his boss. Scott Wood told Eddie, yes go to the doctor. Eddie called his doctor. His doctors office told him if you are here by 2pm we can see you. Eddie headed home and then on to see his doctor. When he arrived home he called his mother again. He asked her to come to Gasdsden. He told her something was not right. His Mother told him to call 911 because his words were slurring and it was hard for her to understand him. Eddie called his neighbor.  She came over to his house. She found Eddie on the floor inside his home. She called 911. The Southside EMT arrived within minutes. Eddie suffered a massive brain stem stroke. He was rushed to Gadsden Regional Hospital where they followed all the stroke procedures including "Clot Buster". Eddie does have insurance. However, he does not have long term or short term disability. He qualifies for Family Leave. He will be drawing his salary for only twelve weeks. We have begun the process of registering Eddie for Social Security Disabilty Insurance and Social security. Eddies income stops after only 12 weeks. The Disabilty process will take up to 4-6 months. He will also have to be on Disabilty for 2 years before he can qualify for Medicaid. In the meantime, his children are seeking temporary guardianship. They are also responsible for paying his mortgage, home owners insurance, property taxes, auto insurance, utilities, medical cost not covered by insurance etc... They will also be responsible for paying the Cobra Insurance once his 12 week of employment pay is over. Eddie does have brothers and a sister. However, they have families as well that will keep them from covering all these immediate costs. Each of Eddies family members have committed to do what it takes for Eddie financially. However, that financial cost are completely unknown at this time. Eddie has been in the MICU at Gadsden Regional for over 30 days. His next move will be to a full care rehabilitation center.  Eddies condition: a brain stem stroke affects many of the brain activities. He is currently only able to communicate by blinking his eyes. He has recently been able to move his head from side to side. We are hoping that in time he may be able to form words. Eddie is Eddie. He smiles, cries and understands everything. He is aware of his condition and has been involved in communicating with the doctor by answering yes and no questions. By blinking. The diagnosis is hopeful. However, there is a possibility that his current state may be all we get. We don't believe that. Eddie has family support and the will to fight, fight and to fight. His daughter has just been recently married, his son has a one year old son EJ (named after Edward Joseph). So there are a lot of reasons for Eddie to work hard at regaining a enjoyable productive life. After all, Eddie is just 57 years old. The goal of his friends and family with the "Go Fund Me" is to insure that money never becomes the reason that Eddie does not have at least a fighting chance to regain some command control of his body. Whether, the money is used for insurance costs, rehab supplies, medication, medical attention or any other supplies needed for Eddies recovery.  Friends and/or Eddies "Dear Friends" have asked to begin a fund raising link so they can help financially.  100% of all money raised will go directly to Eddies recovery.
