Hi Everyone! This is Kathy. (AKA Katherine, Kat) cousin to Eddie Hammel Jr (seen at the far right of the cover photo). A couple weeks ago, he received the sucky news that he has the Big C, 'Sucky Cancer'. Eddie is the little brother of Roxanne Rainwater, son of Ed Hammel Sr, and son of the late Joyce Hammel (maiden name Erickson), Joyce was my mom, Sally Reppert's, younger sister, and sister to Arthur, Nancy, and Donna.

Eddie went in for an exam when he began having vision issues. They call it Squamous Cell cancer, and it is impacting his brain, lungs, lymph nodes, and he will have a PET scan soon, that will provide more information. I am sharing the small details I am aware of, and will update as I learn more.

This news was and is still a major blow for all of us. His doctors are currently preparing a treatment plan. He’s truly in the best hands and ready to fight—and we’re all so incredibly grateful!

Currently, Eddie is unable to drive, and no longer working, so the family has their hands full with missing time away from their jobs to ensure Eddie's care is first priority. We would like to lighten the financial load and cover extra expenses.

Big Sis' Roxanne (AKA Roxie, Rox, taxi driver, and Eddie's Super Hero Sister!) has her hands full with getting a handle on all the crazy things happening in their home. Managing paperwork, doctor appointments, and driving to all his appointments is proving to be a full time job. He began radiation treatment today, and in the coming weeks will begin chemo.

We put together this page to give Eddie's friends and extended family a way to show their support, share messages of hope and love.
