Eagle Scout Project Honors D-Day 75th Anniversary

Donation protected
8/28/2020 - I am proud to announce: Mission Accomplished! Today, I completed my Scouting journey and earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

It was an ambitious service project, but once I met and interviewed Mr. Ray Wallace, a survivor of the D-Day invasion, I was inspired. I had the incredible opportunity to meet many other WWI Veterans during my project, you are true heroes. Thank you for your service.

To all the donors and supporters of my project, a sincere thank you for believing in me.

To my Scouting friends, fellow scouts and scoutmasters, could not have done it without you.

To my brother Andrew - Unity Park inspired me.

To my Mom and Dad, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support.

11/9/2019 - For my Eagle Scout Project, I designed and constructed an outdoor World War II D-Day educational exhibit titled “Liberation Pointe” which will honor the sacrifices of D-Day and WWII veterans.

Liberation Pointe is located the front entrance of the Army Heritage and Education Center (AHEC) in Carlisle, PA.

My mission was to memorialize and honor these veterans and make sure America’s future generations do not forget what these men and women did for our country and the world.

Most people in my generation do not even know what D-Day was.   I wanted to change that.

Liberation Pointe was unveiled on November 2019 with a ceremony and reception honoring these very special veterans.

I was honored that 22 WWII Veterans attended the ceremony.

Your contributions helped me accomplish the following:

- Two Bronze, life size statues featuring  American soldiers landing on Omaha Beach. The Soldiers will appear as they are advancing and fighting from behind an anti-tank hedgehog.

- Surrounding the statue, there is a five sided granite border, each side will feature an education board for each landing beach (Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno & Sword). The education board will feature information about that beach, including the troops that fought there, units, casualties, etc. along with stories from American Soldiers about their experiences at the beach.

- Two additional educational boards, one to describe Operation Overlord and the senior leaders, and one to focus on the paratroopers. There will be a total of seven educational boards.

- Surrounding the statures there is a concrete walkway for visitors to access the exhibit from all five sides of the pentagon.

- Inside the granite border will be rock/sand like material to give visitors the feel of the actual beaches of the D- Day invasion.

- Four trees, on in each corner of the project there will be a tree to symbolize the four countries that were involved in the invasion America, Great Britain, France and Canada.

- Four benches will also be added under the trees for shade and respite.

The total estimate for the full completion of this project will be between $100,000 and $150,000. Most of the work will be in kind donations.

Thank you for your support.
