my name is trisha wallis. i am comfortable giving my full name in regards to this serious matter, and solemnly swear on my own life that all this information is true. I need help for my dog. He needs radiation and I can't do this without y'all's help!! Here's our story...

my 7 year YOUNG Australian shepherd, Dusty (aka bearface and monkeybutt) came into my life in 2007 at approx a year and a half old. he was purchased from a breeder in southern californa in 2006 by my now ex boyfriend. 2 years ago my ex of 10 years walked out of my life unexpectedly and told me his situation didn't allow to take him. we shared 2 dogs total and a cat. they were all left in my care. the day he walked out of my life, the bond between me and dusty (my aussie) grew like wildfire!! he was my rock. he comforted me during the hardest time of my life (losing what i thought was my soul mate after 10 years). i didn't want to get out of bed, so dusty laid right there with me licking my tears and trying his best to heal my wounds. he became my best friend!

In July I rescued a 9 yr old Aussie who was at a kill shelter and an owner surrender. If i had known Dusty was sick, i may have put rescuing on hold until I could deal with Dusty's financial obligations first. But upon my decision to rescue, i was unaware anything was wrong. So a month later, (August) Dusty gets a nose bleed while playing ball in the back yard. i stopped the bleeding and figured he hit his nose when he dove for the ball. a week and a half later he had another nose bleed just from sneezing. Most people would likely over look it and say "oh its just allergies" . occasional nosebleed from sneezing, itchy skin watery eyes, running nose, coughing. All the classic human signs BUT i knew something wasn't right. i took him to my vet and he did bloodwork and put him on doxycycline. for 15 days and two pills a day, with good blood results, however he was continuing to blow bubbles out of his right nostril. his eyes were draining and his left nostril was a little watery. and he was sneezing 24/7. i went to another vet for a second opinion and got x-rays taken which seemed normal and an antifungal medicine was given. (ketoconazole) was administered for 21 days with no notice of getting better. both vets recommended me getting a ct scan along with rhinoscopy. i made an appointment with university of florida's small animal hospital and spent my birthday (oct 7) with dusty. we stayed in a hotel overnight awaiting the procedures to be done the next day. oct 8 the ct scan and rhinoscopy along with biopsies were taken and he had to stay an additional night at the hospital due to bleeding more than expected. wednesday the 9th i picked him up and we drove 2.5 hrs back home. friday afternoon 11th i got the worst call of my life. (worse than the break up) the doctor called to tell me they got the biopsy results back and confirmed he in fact had nasal adneocarsinoma cancer. the mass they saw in the ct scan confirmed a tumor.

******Below is a picture of the CT SCAN. It is like a mirror image. So our left is his right! Do u see at the top of the scan where in the two sections, the one on OUR LEFT is white and cloudy?? That indicates the tumor/mass restricting air flow. Our right is all black indicating full air flow. (Every time I see this it breaks my heart. As if looking at him every day doesn't remind me enough :'( ...

**i want to do what is best for my dog. yes, i want quantity (longer time with him) but his quality of life is more important to me. i just dont want him to suffer, no matter what. we have an appointment wednesday,0ct 23, back in gainesville to develop a treatment plan with the radiation oncologist. they want 75% of the total cost upfront at the first treatment and the other 25% will be due upon completion of treatment. my credit card is maxed out as i have spent over $2000.00 alone already just to get these aweful results.

he is healthy, active, playful, has a good appetite and full of life. you would never know he has been diagnosed with cancer and that's why i want to give him the best treatment because he has more years to share with the world. Small set back :right now he is having trouble breathing due to the mass clogging his right nostril and I wish there was something to do to provide some relief as he becomes agitated. This happens mostly when he wants to sleep. He hasn't gotten the whole mouth breathing figured out quite yet lol

I have never had the guts to ask anyone including family for help with anything! i'm too independent and stubborn and embarrassed to do so. however, my friend suggested this site and i decided i was desperate enough to do it. after all, it's for dusty and if treatment works in his favor, my reward will be more time with my sweet boy!!
**if you can spare a dollar or two, share this with your friends on your page and/or send prayers every night, i would be forever grateful!! thanks for taking the time to read my long life story, but i didn't want to miss a single important part of how dusty came into my life to where he is at now. i look forward to positive news and i couldn't do it without you all!!
PLEASE NOTE: this goal amount is high but only covers cost of radiation , boarding while being radiated and maybe 1 CT SCAN after treatment. Does not include the $2500.00 plus that I already have spent. These donations will be used for the sole purpose of Dusty, and no monetary gain will be used for personal things for myself. I have dedicated working 6 days a week sometimes 7 to make as much money possible. Any amount raised OVER the goal amount if not needed for more treatment, will be DONATED to another dog or cat who needs help. Thank you! Spread the site for the love and care of all animals!! ❤❤😘🙏🐾🐺

Dusty's radiation starts Nov 4. After radiation, the doctor has recommended surgery. Which will come a few months later to my knowledge. The surgery is an additional $2500.00. This is recommended for not only more time alive, but for his QUALITY of life as well. Thank you!

take care and lots of love from dusty's momma ❤, trisha wallis

Radiation pictures Nov 4- Nov 8: these photos show Dusty being prepped for radiation. The orange mouth piece is his bite plate and he has to be positioned PERFECTLY for the radiation to target the exact spot (tumor). The bottom photo is him with Sarah, the anesthesiologist and Blain, the radiation therapist.
