Danielle was born May 3rd, 1988. She is the oldest of a combined family of six children. Being the perfect older sister, she's admired by her siblings. Little girl's dream of becoming many things a princess a teacher a mommy. Danielle had dreams of what her life would be one day. But all that would change on January 2011,when Danielle was diagnosed with Osteosaroma (bone cancer) www.cancer.org/cancer/osteosarcoma/ in the humerus of her right arm. She was 22 years old when her dreams drastically changed she was now fighting for her own life. Over the next 2½ years Danielle fought hard with a bone grafting, limb salvage surgery, stroke and many rounds of chemotherapy. Despite this the cancer returned 3 times. On June 4th, 2013 after being very ill for many months she underwent a fourquarter amputation of her right arm. Doctor's had a difficult time controlling her pain at first, but Danielle rallied and finally after several weeks she started to blossom. The color in her face returned and she was finally beginning to live again. She was out of the house and living life. We knew if anyone could rock one arm it was our beautiful Danielle! Doctors were confident they had gotten all the cancer that could be seen. But on Aug 12th, 2013 her first scans showed the cancer had spread. She now has several tumors within her lungs, her chest wall, and at the surgery site. Danielle's form of Osteosaroma is called "Giant Cell", and is extremely aggressive. The doctors have offered her Palliative care (http://www.getpalliativecare.org/whatis/) with which will give her approximately 6-12 months to live. With months of research we found an expert on Danille's disease. He is the best in the nation (http://www.mskcc.org/pediatrics/childhood/pediatric-sarcomas/pediatric-sarcoma-expert/michael-la-quaglia) and willing to be a consultant on her case and possibly treat her himself. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center uses techniques not available anywhere else and Dr. La Quaglia and his team perform surgeries on difficult cases like Danielle's that others won't. We have submitted her case to him and he is evaluating it now. We know further treatment is available but we need a consultation and for him to examine Danielle. This could significantly increase our time with her. We also found an Oncologist in Long Beach, Ca. performing analysis on patients live tissues and would like to submit a biopsy to them. http://www.rationaltherapeutics.com/ Danielle wants to fight and us along side her. We are asking you to fight with us, we are asking you to help extend Danielle's life and possibly get her into remission. If we do nothing Danielle leaves us in months. Danielle's dreams have changed, she now dreams of spending more time with her brothers and sisters, other family and friends and meeting her first niece due in Dec. We're sending all our prayers to her and ask that you do too.
