Douglass Family Fire

My family lost everything we owned, besides summer clothes, and a few small appliances (coffee maker, toaster, blender) in a terrible fire on October 1, 2013. After working hard and saving for many years, we had purchased some land in the country and started building a new home. We were so excited...it was a dream come true!! We sold our home in the city and moved into a small two bedroom furnished apartment and put everything we owned into a 40x70 metal barn next to the new home under construction. On October 1, the barn burned to the ground and we lost everything...personal memorabilia, assets, furniture, household goods, winter clothes, family photos, etc. The only photo that "survived" is of me in my wedding dress on the day my husband and I got married. EVERYTHING else was completely lost. We were told by the fire investigator that this was the worst fire that he had ever seen and nothing could be salvaged, cleaned or repaired. We have some insurance, but our total losses not covered by insurance are in excess of $200,000.00 and it could take a couple of months to receive any assistance. An additional concern is that the barn cost $47,000.00 to build and this amount counted towards equity in the financing of our new home. We need to replace this barn as quickly as possible or we may not be able to keep the land and new house that will be completed on or around December 15th. It's bad enough to lose everything that we own, but we may lose our new house now, as well. My husband, Greg, is a Tulsa Police Officer and we have three children, Eric - 24, Kristina - 18, and Bo - 15. This has been a devastating experience for us, but we are trying very hard to keep a positive attitude and hold on to the belief that God has a plan for our family!
