Mahoneys Battling Throat Cancer

Our good friend Doug Mahoney has been battling throat and tonsil cancer since February 2017.  Doug, who is very ill, has been unable to work regularly the past few months. His sweet wife Laura (also known as Salem Lutheran School's lunch lady) had to stop working outside their home to care for Doug. They are struggling currently to pay very high medical expenses that are ongoing. In January 2018 they are facing deductibles of $21,500 plus out-of-pocket medical costs. Doug has gone through 64 radiation treatments, 9 chemo treatments plus he has had to wear a chemo pump continuously. He is eating via a feeding tube at this time,  trying to regain his strength and starting throat therapy this week to be able to eat. They are also waiting to get the next PET scan before the end-of-the year to learn the next phases of his recovery. The money collected will be used to pay medical costs, as well as help with groceries, utilities, property taxes and other essential living expenses.

The Mahoneys are members at Salem Lutheran Church and have lived in Tomball for the past nine years. Their youngest son,  Andrew is a senior at Tomball High School and hoped to attend college in the fall.
