Damian was diagnosed with a rare type of brain damaging epilepsy called infantile spasms at 9 months of age. Luckily, after 3 months of aggressive steroid treatments he managed to be seizure free for 2 years. Shortly after his third birthday, my sweet boy started having multiple daily seizures, that to this day have yet to be controlled. Damian is now 8 years old.
On October 2014, Damian underwent laser ablation brain surgery in an attempt to achieve seizure control. The surgery reduced one type of seizure but affected his mobility on the left side of his body. Damian is unable to use his left hand and now requires a brace on his left foot to walk. His doctor prescribed medical equipment to facilitate his recovery but of course our insurance will not cover it. The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise enough funds to purchase the equipment he needs.
Damian is a sweet, happy boy. He is the bravest little man I know. Thank you for helping him regain his mobility.
