First and foremost, your love, support, prayers, and well wishes have been overwhelming the past few weeks. It's difficult for us to ask for any more from you. Please know how much we appreciate every kind word, prayer, and amount of love sent our way.
As some of you may know, my sister Damarys was first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2011. She underwent surgery and the tumor was removed. She continued with her regular check ups and for a few months felt better until 2012 where scans discovered that the brain tumor had returned and Metastasized to her spine. It was then that doctors decided that the best option was to treat this disease with radiation. Damarys immediately underwent 35 rounds of radiation from her head down to the tip of her spine.
Treatment was thought to be successful until 2014, when our world came crashing down once more. Scans showed that not only had the brain tumor returned but she had masses down her spine, near the liver and pelvic region. She immediately underwent aggressive chemotherapy for the next two and a half years.
Everything seemed to be going positively with the potential of ending treatment in November of 2017.
Unfortunately, during a recent study done last week it was found that it has metastasized to her neck and cerebrospinal Liquid. Sadly, the doctors aren’t giving us much hope. As you can imagine our family is destroyed. My heart and soul is in a trillion pieces. She’s my sister, my ONLY sister. We need to explore other options...seek a second opinion. We are desperate and willing to do whatever it takes to keep Damarys alive in any way possible and are asking for your help as well. I need my sister and the world needs Damarys. Regardless of what they say...we won’t give up.
