They lost it ALL! Hopes to Rebuild

Donation protected

Hi there, I would like to introduce you to Don and Glenda of Williams Lake, BC; see their picture included.
Thankfully, they evacuated the Williams Lake fire early and are safely living out of their trailer in nearby Lac La Hache, BC.
Recently they responded to a Cariboo Regional District (CRD) Facebook post (on July 23rd at 2:35pm) to contact them, unfortunately it was the confirmation that they lost their home.  Everything!

Thank you for visiting this campaign to aid in the task of overcoming the loss they have suffered in the fires. Their home was on Soda Creed Road.

This fund has been created as a provision to meet their needs of the immediate future and attempt to match their amazingly optimistic attitude, "we will just have to rebuild."

Don, formally, a golf course designer and operations manager, is now retired.  While he's supposed to be enjoying this chapter of life, he just can't sit still. Recently, he underwent a hip replacement surgery. While on the medical wait-list for over a year he was told to "take it easy." This did not stop Donny! Despite a bit of pain, he remained an active member of the Clancy Wright & The Silverado Band, a band who performs locally and enjoys lifting spirits through their music. On comfortable days you could find him helping others through building or repairing their home, or shed; fixing someone's car or recreational vehicle, or creating a useful piece of equipment from "stuff."

His wife, Glenda, cares for their home and her lush garden, despite suffering physical impairment from an accident many years ago. This won't keep her down and out, not by the least! She shares her love for others by preparing delicious preserves from her garden, helping in whatever capacity she can in the home of friends, and is great company to chat with.
Both of these people are great community members and will drop what they are doing to help someone in need.
Now is a time that they need to get a return on all the kindness, goods and services they have delivered to friends, loved ones, and neighbours in need.

They do not have insurance to cover the loss of their home.  They have always lived well within their means and prefer to be comfortable rather then extravagant. So quite literally, every donation, no matter the size, will greatly benefit them.  I ask you, if you can, please, spare something, it would go directly to their home, by way of: building materials, appliances, furnishings, warm blankets and clothes for winter, right down to a fishing rod to begin winter food stores.

Both Don and Glenda meet this tragedy with abundant optimism and a positive attitude. It truly has been inspiring to communicate with them through this whole ordeal.

I have the pleasure to create this on behalf of all Don and Glenda's children; Jason (w/Missy), Clay (w/Christine), Jeff, Stacey, Cameron, and their respective families. We, along with our social circles, will also be helping in the financial, physical and emotional rebuilding that they very much need.

I am deeply moved by the overwhelming dedication, calm, cool, and collected nature of every being who has organized a successful evacuation; graciously and bravely defended the areas that could be saved, those who donated time or artifacts to aid those displaced by the fire.  I hope everyone affected can find the power to grow through what they have gone through.

"I know that in life there will be sickness, devastation, disappointments, heartache - it's a given. What's not a given is the way you choose to get through it all.  If you look hard enough, you can always find the bright side."   ~ Rashida Jones

If there are any questions, please, feel free to send me a message.
Forever grateful for safety and eager to be helpful!
