Donald Parsons' Dbl Lung Transplant

Donald Parsons is currently battling respiratory distress and is need of a double lung transplant.  He was diagnosed close to a year ago with COPD with acute exacerbation and severe sepsis, caused by a genetic disorder that was previously unknown.  Since his diagnosis, he has been hospitalized multiple times; most recently discharged Christmas Eve from Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia with 24-hr. oxygen.  

Donald was born in Chesapeake and attended Deep Creek High School.  He has been in the construction industry since he was fifteen years old.  Along with his wife, Carolina, he has worked hard to support his family, including four children, a stepdaughter, and six grandchildren.   

Currently without medical insurance, the Parsons are facing insurmountable medical expenses.  On top of the already building bills, Donald is in urgent need of the double lung transplant.  Whether waiting until the Medical College of Virginia can conduct the surgery (approximately six months away and at significantly reduced cost) or making the difficult choice to have the surgery sooner at Maryview (at full cost), the Parsons' bills will continue to accumulate.  In addition, Carolina will need to be available to assist Donald no matter where the surgery is conducted, which means more time off work for her - limiting their ability to pay regular household expenses.  Needless to say, any assistance is appreciated.  All prayer is welcome, as well as any financial assistance - no matter how small -  to help the Parsons family through this experience, and get Donald on the road to recovery.
