A Voice For So Many In Danger of Being Forever Silenced, A Battle Cry for Our Dad

We are raising money for our Dad's cancer treatment. His insurance does not cover this and we cannot do it without help. Your help, shares and prayers will be greatly appreciated!

Don (Rivers) Dupré was born in Gulfport, Mississippi to a military family and is one of five children. He grew up most of his childhood in Albany, Georgia and always had a great love for music. He started working in radio at a young age and started broadcasting, and quickly broadcast throughout the Gulf South, until he found a home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He quickly garnered local notoriety with several big stunts to raise money for charities, thus using his platform to help others. He was buried alive, frozen alive, and even flew a fighter jet, all in an effort to promote different local charities. He has used his resources as a radio personality and programmer to bring awareness and raise funds for those touched by The American Cancer Society, The United Way, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, The Children's Network, The Louisiana Blood Centers, The March of Dimes, several children's museums, several women's shelters, food banks, and many more charitable organizations.  He served on boards for the United Way, The Louisiana Blood Centers and the Children's Miracle Network.  He coached little league baseball for 7 years and coached youth basketball.  He stayed behind when evacuations were ordered and weathered 6 hurricanes. He is one of only seven non-agents to ever be awarded the Allstate Good Hands Award (for efforts during Hurricane Rita).

Don has helped many young artists by exposing their music to his audiences and was awarded seven gold records.  Don has never turned down a chance to use his voice and resources to help others.  He feels that every day is a gift and every chance to help is a way to give back for the blessings he has received.
Don is married, has two children, and has spent the last 30+ years being an incredible father and husband. We have been immensely blessed. He's continually loved us through good times and bad, provided for us even when that meant 60-70+ hour weeks. Our dad has the best work ethic you could ever imagine, and without a second thought, he would jump to help anyone who needed it.

Now it’s our turn to use our voices and resources to arm him, Don (Rivers) Dupre’, for the battle of his life.

Don recently noticed swollen painful lymph nodes on several places in his body. The day before Thanksgiving he drove to MD Anderson where his oncologist told him he suspected lymphoma. At the appointment, he learned his insurance only covers 10% ($50) of the $500 visit and will not cover any x-rays, CT scans/radiology services, or chemo treatments. Now with a virtually useless insurance policy Don is left without funds to fight for his life.

Dillon (his son): I talk about my dad a lot. He's been a perfect example of integrity, courage, strength, and what biblical manhood looks like. He's shown me that character and hard work will get you farther than anything else in this world. When things would seem hopeless, he would tell me that I needed to just take a step back and trust God. When I was a stubborn teenager, instead of getting angry, he would gently push me in the right direction. When other people were handed things in life, my dad taught me to work hard to earn them. I don't have enough words to describe my dad. He's done everything he could for everyone else his entire life, constantly giving all of the time and money he could to help out others. I couldn't be more proud of the man that he is. If you can help, you have no idea the gratitude we would have. We believe the best and we know that God is sovereign and that His will will be done. Thanks for reading this, and thank you for your help through this very trying time.

Tiffany (his Daughter): Don married my mother when I was just 6 years old. He didn't just promise to love and take care of her forever, but he made that same promise to me. He even gave me a ring when he gave her one. He has been the most amazing father anyone could ever ask for. He has never, not even for a second, treated me as if I weren't his own flesh and blood. He has taught me so much in my life and I wouldn't be the person I am without him.
I’m no gallant leader on the battle front and very uncomfortable with personable outreach. But the possibility of losing my dad has given me the courage to cry out loud, swallow my pride, and ask for your help.

Dillon and I started this page specifically to ask that if you are able to give, if you have any margin to help, you could literally be the difference between my father being able to afford the medical care necessary to fight this cancer. Please consider helping out in any way you can.
Thank you in advance. And even if you have nothing to spare, thank you for listening and PLEASE SHARE on any social media platforms available.

Funds needed and why: All funds raised will be used for medical test, treatments, appointments and medications. Any funds left over will be donated to The American Cancer Society. Financial statements will be uploaded for any funds used.
