RIP 1966-2014

Phil Cook was born in 1966 with Congenital Heart Valve Disease. He had his first surgery at 5 years old. Many times, as a kid, he pounded on his chest in frustration over the large zipper scar that marked him as that kid with the heart condition.

He spent his entire life in and out of hospitals. Some of those hospital stays added Hepatitis and MRSA to the list of battles that he fought. MRSA added some further challenges to his heart and Hepatitis created a challenge with his liver.

His health left he and his family living a life with limited funds. His wife has been loyal to his care through thick and thin. She simply loved him. Together they said goodbye to two precious babies and welcomed two beautiful girls into this world. He raised them on Love of God and Family. His wife worked part time jobs and did what she could but as his health became a bigger fight she chose caring for him over work.

He had a pigs valve put in and the surgery almost killed him but the Lord had other plans. The pigs valve outlasted the doctors estimated lifespan as did Phil. Doctors had him labeled dead by his 30's, but God knows the plans he has for our life and if he says we aren't quite finished, well he knows best. Phil went on to live his life well beyond the opinions of the doctors.

July 31st, at the age of 48, Phil was taken by ambulance to Loma Linda Hospital. His heart stopped and it took doctors over an hour to fully resuscitate him and his brain went a total of 55 minutes without oxygen. Life support could not sustain him and it was simply his time to go back to the Father. Free from a life of pain and sickness.

It had to be a hard decision for him to turn towards heaven as his daughter Amber is busy making him proud of her college endeavors, and his daughter Jessica is pregnant with his first grandson. His wife loved him dearly as did the rest of his family, church family and friends.

He was known by everyone as a Man who loved God and truly loved his neighbor. His life was a wonderful example of sweet Shema. Now we are asking you and others, if this touches you, if you understand the point of his life and the point of this post please donate. Please help out his family. Show them the Shema that Phil lived by. Shema means: Hear O' Israel the Lord our God the Lord is one. Blessed be his Glorious name whose kingdom is forever and ever. It also means to love God and your neighbor with every fiber of who you are.

His family needs a lot of help. I put out an amount but by all means their needs are great and this is a crazy economy. If you cannot financially help please feel free to fulfill their needs and concerns in other ways as help is not always about money.

- His wife Cindy needs a job
- Amber needs help as she works towards finishing school in honor of her dad
- Jessica is preparing to have a baby boy very soon
- Their van has no AC, no working windows and pricy mechanical requirements

Take it to heart, take it to prayer and help if you feel led.
