Dj is currently undergoing chemotherapy for recurrent brain cancer. Dj was diagnosed with a PNET, brain cancer at the very young age of 17 months. An emergency room visit turned into emergency brain surgery. In the following six months DJ was diagnosed with cancer, underwent 2 more brain surgeries, 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 3 stem cell transplants.
DJ spent almost 2 years cancer free. Unfortunately in November of 2013 a new tumor was found. DJ underwent his fifth brain surgery. After successful removal of the tumor DJ completed proton radiation at MD Anderson in February. After another MRI yet another tumor was found. Only this time the tumor had been zapped by radiation and although a small amount of active cancer remained most of it was scar tissue. DJ began chemotherapy in April to try and knockout cancer for good.
DJ has left sided weakness from his initial brain surgery but there isn't much that keep this spunky four year old down. DJ pursues every day with a smile on his face determined to live every second to its full potential. DJ's story has taught us as a family to live for every moment.
In the picture above is DJ's little brother Jaxen. Jaxen was born right in the middle of DJ's initial treatments and he has always been instrumental in DJ's recovery. Jaxen constantly pushes DJ physically and emotionaly while continually lending a helping hand.
