DiChiaro Elementary Needs Your Help

The Patricia DiChiaro Elementary School is one of the oldest schools in the Yonkers Public School system. For more than 120 years, our vibrant school community has been committed to implementing a balanced literacy approach using an array of materials to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. We are proud to be the highest performing non-selective prekindergarten to eighth grade school in the district.

DiChiaro has been affected by many budget cuts during the past several years. We have lost 12 full time staff positions, full time prekindergarten, music, art, physical education as well as technological resources.

Our current funding supports only the bare necessities. While striving to maintain our high academic standards, we are none the less challenged to have access to the best technological teaching aids in all of our classrooms. One tool that we have found enormously useful in the few classrooms that have them, is the Ladybug overhead which enables teachers to project various materials for class instruction.
