Diane's Radiation Therapy Expense

Diane Galipeault was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on June 25th, 2014. She first noticed some abdominal pain back in January 2014. It was not until May that she decide something was not right and made an appointment with a GI doctor on May 2nd. After the evaluation, mom was put on a trail of Linzess for IBS. Without having relief, she returned to the doctor and a CT scan was rendered. A mass was revealed on the head of the pancreas. A biopsy was done and confirmed aggressive Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma.
After hearing this news, our world was completely shaken. Our faith was now being put to test and our family came together to pray for comfort throughout this journey. Shortly after the diagnoses, we decided to meet with the pancreatic specialist at Johns Hopkins Hospital. We met with three doctors that came up with a plan of action. Chemotherapy was recommended and she started treatment here in Savannah.
By the power of prayer and God's touch, mom responded extremely well to the chemo treatments. Within only THREE treatments, the tumor shrunk 54%. We made another appointment back in Maryland for another CT to determine whether the next step would be radiation or surgery. The doctors recommended a stereotactic radiation therapy before surgery. Unfortunately, my mom's medical insurance denied this treatment and we are now forced to pay for this therapy. The therapy alone cost: $25,000. We are asking for whatever God puts on your hearts to give. We are very blessed to have such wonderful friends and family to help us through this process.
