Well on June 22 I woke up and had no use of my legs. We went to the hospital and found out that I have a connective tissue disorder that had turned parts of the ligamentum flavum (the ligament that runs along your spine) into bone. Well that condition had turned 3 whole pieces of ligament into bone and smashed my spine completely in 2 areas and was continuing to do so throughout my spine. The permanent damage done to my spinal cord and the narrowing of the spinal canal is not something that can be fixed and wlll get worse later in life obviously. Surgery was performed on July 14 to unpinch my spine, remove the pieces of bone, and put 14 screws and 2 rods in my back to try to keep my spine stable. The hope is that one day I will eventually have full use of my arms and legs again. There have been promising signs that the surgery did help with the spinal function, but only time will tell as far as full use of arms and legs are concerned.
I am an upbeat person as most of you know. I always know that there are plenty of people in this life that have it way worse off than I do and I am thankful everyday for everything that I do have. I do not enjoy asking anyone, for anything. However, I am stuck currently. Having bills needing to be paid, medicines needing to be purchased, food, doctors visits needing to be paid for, and so on. I don't actually expect to raise $2000 for this and if I only receive five dollars I will still be eternally grateful for anything that anyone can do for me. I still have some money saved and and budgetting the best that I can, but it's kind of hard to keep money coming when you can't work. Disability has been filed, but the paperwork and timeframe on that don't exactly go by quckly.
If and when I am able , I fully intend on going back to my job and doing it to the best of my ability, but as a kitchen manager/chef it's going to be a while before they will clear my to do that type of work again (if ever). I would just like to be able to pay my bills for a bit until this disability does go through. I am not asking for something huge and to try to make a living off of some gofundme stuff. My entire family just does not have any money, and its getting to a point that neither do I. I completely undestand if one can't afford to help. I also understand those that just simply think it may be a scam, I mean what kind of 28 year old just wakes up and can't walk right? Well that was my question on June 22. I hate to even finalize this post because it is acknowledging that I need help and can't do this alone, and I would much rather not ask anyone for help but sometimes things are tougher than one thinks and can't be handled alone.
I am sorry if the typing/grammar is a little off, arms aren't exactly functioning properly. I come to all of you in a real time of need and I hope that most can understand that. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and if you can't afford to give anything I do please ask that you keep myself and my family in your thoughts.
Sincerely Thank You,
