Hi FB friends and family -
My name is Gabrielle and I am Suzanne Klane’s youngest daughter (22yo) about to enter my final semester at Simmons College in the nursing program (with the hope to be an oncology nurse of course).
As many of you know, my mother has been battling seemingly endless medical obstacles since I was in 2nd grade and my older sister Rachael (24yo) was in 4th grade. These medical issues forced her to retire from the Massachusetts State Police as a trooper in her early 40’s. Even since, these medical issues have continued.
Unfortunately, my mother is about to face her biggest obstacle of all. She was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. She had been feeling a pain in her back and got a referral for physical therapy and was put on medication, but nothing helped. When I brought her into urgent care for fatigue, anemia, and dehydration they decided to admit her to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston where they did many tests, one including a pet scan.
The pet scan found a tumor on the apex of her lung (which explains the unrelieved back pain) and they also found a lesion on her spine. My mother has been set up with the brilliant doctors at Dana Farber Cancer Institute where she will require many sessions of chemotherapy and radiation.
These treatments are going to put a big financial burden on our mom, costing upward of $2000/month, that we would like to help take off her shoulders. Our mom has always been a resilient, strong, well-respected woman, and we hope to keep her hopes high. We are reaching out to all of you for your support that would benefit her greatly.
