Sims Raising the Stakes (Funds)!!

A beloved, long-time member of the Palm Beach County/ Dreyfoos school of the Arts Theatre family, Dennis Sims, has been recently diagnosed with lung cancer. As a former student of Mr. Sims and a current faculty member of DSOA theatre, I was inspired to assist the only way I know how: by celebrating his contributions to our department by creating and sharing theatre. Sims always brought out the wonderful talent of his students and created many memorable shows, while at the school he loved. I've done my best to carry on the legacy of a committment to excellence that all our techers instilled in us when we attended DSOA. I try to do this both with my work in the classroom, and with performances alike. While beautiful performances are special and precious, they can't assist Mr. Sims and his family with the cost of this difficult fight.
A benefit performance is set for Friday, May 27th in Meyer Hall at the DSOA campus from 6-8 pm. All money raised at that event will be tied in with this gofundme and will be deposited directly to Susan and Dennis Sims to use for medical bills and care during this courageous battle. For those that are far away but would like to contribute, this account has been set up and all proceeds raised will go directly to the Sims family. For now, I have just estimated an amount to raise because so many people have been eager to donate. I will communicate with the family to put a more specific number out there soon. We will close the gofundme May 27th, but will keep you informed with more ways to assist the family.
