Prosthetic research and Development

Hello Everyone!
If you are reading this I want to start off by saying thank you for taking the time to look at my page.
My name is Dennet Oregon and I am a Combat Wounded Veteran riding out of the DC area. The purpose of this page is to raise funds in order to purchase equipment needed to conduct research, develop and improve current socket fitment techniques and future product technology that will greatly benefit other traumatic amputees of foreign wars as well as civilian amputees.

Any size donation will be very helpful and much appreciated.

A little background info on me;
I was born and raised in the Chicago area until the age of 19 where I attended Art school for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Army shortly after 9/11.

I Had been wounded twice in combat during my deployment to Afghanistan. The second time I was severely wounded by and Improvised Explosive Device being a remotely detonated double stacked anti tank mines inserted and cemented over a wadi crossing.

As a result I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury that affected my memory recognition and balance. Broken nose, a few broken teeth, some busted fingers, four fractured vertebrae, broken cartilage and dislocated ribs, dislocated and permanently deranged left knee, both knees and back , right shoulder, right fingers suffering from degenerative arthritis. Shrapnel wounds to legs and lost part of both my legs a few inches bellow my knees.
Over 30 surgeries and countless hours in therapy two and a half years total in a military hospital I finally recovered enough to continue my duties in the U.S. Army. I spent some time in the Pentagon conducting counter IED operations and then from there worked as a Squad leader guiding and mentoring my fellow Wounded, Sick and Ill Soldiers at the Warrior Transition Brigade at Walter Reed National Military Hospital. After my time was up I was Medically Retired from the U.S. Army on 01 March 2013.
So then my journey began. My long term goal is to make it to the Paralympics in Rio 2016. I want to show my fellow Soldiers Wounded in Combat and other amputees that you can still achieve a better quality of life and that just because you are unhappy with your physical state now that does not mean you have to stay that way. Last year I had another surgery that was needed to repair the distal end of my right risidual limb. As a reslult I have had to suspend my training and I will not be competing this year at all. I am currently channeling all my energy and resources into the fitment of my prosthetic sockets. I am only as good as my equipment. I want to compete again and in time I'm confident I will again. I want to show everyone that Hard work and Passion pays off. Please follow my Journey. Thank you

Life is beautiful and too short to waste away. We only have one so lets make it count. With my second chance I want to help make the world a better place in any way I can.
