Deaf Refugees

On Friday 7th October I headed over to the Calais Refugee Camp taking two Audiologists and two Sign Language Interpreters.   We met with three Deaf, male Refugees, fitting them with hearing aids and also giving them some vital information about what's happening to the camp in the next month.

I asked for help to cover the trip's expenses and you lovely lot raised just over £1000!  The trip was 100% funded and we had some left over which is now growing every day thanks to you guys.  

We have now decided that any further money raised will be equally split.  Half will be given to 'Help Refugees' (the organisation we connected with to set up the trip).. and half will be used to potentially fund more trips and to provide more support for other Deaf Refugees.
 
Currently we have found no specific support for Deaf Refugees.  We want to provide this specific support and also help the volunteers to have the relevant resources and contacts to help other Deaf Refugees in other camps and/or that have found Asylum.  

We have been blown away by everyone's support and huge generosity and we cannot thank you enough.. we really couldn't have done the trip without you!!
