Send Dave to Summer Camp in Maui!

Dave Allen has been a family friend, our “Uncle Dave” and my daughter’s Godfather for 23 years. We would like to share his story and fulfill his dream.
Eleven months after miraculously surviving a heart attack, Dave was rushed to the hospital once again when he fell, due to a spontaneous broken femur that “snapped like a piece of celery”. When Dave awoke from the leg surgery on December 2nd, he was shocked to hear that he had Stage 4 Cancer. The specialist says Dave may have as much as 2 to 6 years of living to do, since he is not a candidate for chemotherapy.
After 20 days in the hospital and another 54 days in a nursing care facility, working hard to regain the strength to walk again, Dave will soon be transferring to a residential care home. After that, the plan is for Dave to return to the room he rents, from a lovely family in Concord.
Those who know Dave, talk of how he has selflessly helped them in some way. Kindness and loyalty are qualities that make him the special man that he is.
Dave’s love for Maui, shows in the Hawaiian shirts he wears with an Aloha style. His “massive” fascination for Leica camera’s (he previously owned 7 of them) and his deep passion and gift for photography are appreciated by many.
Dave dreams of returning to Hawaii and planting his feet in the Maui sand, taking pictures and relaxing to the sounds of the ocean surf. He also dreams of taking a trip to picturesque Carmel, CA and taking other stunning photographs. I'm sure his friends would love to see that he gets to do both of those things! Would you mind helping to make those dreams come true?
The Doctor has said once Dave gets stronger, that he will be able to travel with a companion. Who wants to travel with him? I’m sure his friends look forward to many beautiful photos that will be taken, both of the spectacular scenery as well as the peace and the joy that will show on Dave’s face.
