Benefit for Darcy's Children

Darcy, my sister, has small-cell carcinoma of the ovary, hyper-calcemic type (SCCOHT). It is very rare, having been documented in only about
450 persons total, so there is no generally accepted standard treatment. It is also very aggressive. When the doctors removed Darcy's original
tumor in December, it was already at stage IIIc. Now the cancer has metastasized.
Darcy is undergoing treatment and is scheduled for regular check-ups to monitor progress. However, many non-covered costs, as well as travel and other expenses, have emptied her bank account. Parents and family members are contributing whatever they can, but she is in need of more funds than they are able to provide.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, after pursuing therapy and receiving test results from the UTMB Oncology Department, it has become clear that Darcy's condition is terminal. After long and thoughtful consideration, we have decided to bring in Hospice Care in hopes of making Darcy's remaining time as comfortable and pain-free as possible. This service is covered by Medicaid.
From this point on, our best efforts and resources will be directed towards securing the future of Darcy's children. Please see below for an introduction to the rest of the family.
Darcy is a single mom with two children: Eris, a remarkable young lady of 12 years, and Sage, a precious son of 9 years, who has autism. For many years, Darcy has worked very hard to support herself and her children. However, in her present condition, her ability is severely hampered. Her family is also providing support in this area, but there are many questions about Eris and Sage's future. Considering Sage's autism, there will be a particular need for specialized child-care in the event of Darcy's absence.
If you can, please help us support Darcy in her struggle. She is fully committed to her treatment, and we look forward to seeing her returned to her strong, beautiful self. However, if it should be that all efforts fail and we lose Darcy, all remaining funds will be used for the benefit of her children.
