"Life is what happens to you
while you're busy making other plans."
John Lennon

And ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or Lou Gehrig’s disease is what happened to Danny Cooper in the prime of his life. Danny was born in Highbridge, NY and raised in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx with his 11 siblings. Danny has always been active and physically fit playing sports his whole life. Danny worked for Verizon as a lineman, a physically demanding job and he stayed physically fit by working out daily in the gym he built in his home in Pearl River. After 30 years of service with Verizon Danny retired to combat this disease.
ALS is a terminal nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It weakens muscles and impacts physical function. Danny’s lower region was first affected and it has rapidly progressed to his upper body. He is confined to a motorized wheel chair. Danny needs help with some daily activities and medical expenses. Every day Danny shows amazing strength, courage and motivation to battle this disease. He says his relationship with God gets stronger every day and he believes that God has a plan for him.

Danny cherishes his wife Christina and daughters Caroline and Laura. The Cooper Family have always gone above and beyond for their community. Danny has tremendous support from his network of family and friends and needs our support now more than ever. He is in the fight for his life. . #DefeatItForDanny
