Miracles for Danielle, don\'t let cancer win!

Donation protected
I am raising money for my very best friend, Danielle Landerway.  She is currently battling an extremely rare cancer called Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma that is very aggressive and resistant to chemotherapy.  She also has Salivary Adenocarcinoma and Salivary Basaloid Adenocarcinoma.  These three cancers have actually combined to form another rare phenomena, a hybrid tumor.  This means every time a tumor spreads or recurs it contains all three cancers in every tumor.  She has been battling this cancer on and off for 4 years now, and during that time has undergone multiple surgeries, multiple aggressive and physically difficult chemotherapies which have caused some horrible side effects, including blood clots in her lungs that almost killed her about a year ago.  Through this all her cancer has resisted treatment and continued to spread, it is now present in her head, her brain, her lymph glands, her lungs and both breasts (UPDATE: It has also spread to five different tumors in her spine, her left hip, her left eye and her skull as well as both kidneys, both lobes of her liver, one of her ovaries and the membranous lining of her abdomen and her lungs).

Danielle just turned 29 years old and is married to one of my other best friends (how convenient!) Josh and together they have an incredible 7 year old son named Hayden.  Because of her cancer she has not been able to work for the last two years, nor can Josh because he is her primary caretaker as she is often very sick and very weak.  She is currently undergoing treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston because they are one of only a handful of hospitals in the world with any experience treating Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma.  She is able to receive this treatment through a generous grant from MDACC, because although they live solely off of her disability payment, the state of Texas deems that as too much income for her to qualify for Medicaid and she was booted off of her private insurance long ago for her treatments causing her to reach the cap in what they were willing to spend on her care.  Her monthly disability payment just covers their house payment and utilities every month, they get food from their limited amount of food stamps, which were actually just cut by $115 a month thanks to a $54 a month cost of living increase to her disability payment. Gotta love that government math.

In order to make it to Houston and back each week they have resorted to borrowing cars for the drive there and back, and have had to sell off their possessions to afford gas.  Just when they thought they would have to start sleeping in the car because of their inability to pay for a hotel room, an incredible couple in their 70's who used to be high school friends with her husbands great uncle heard about her story and opened their home to Dani and Josh to stay at while down for treatments.  This means that in addition to Hayden struggling with his mothers ongoing illness and their financial struggles he is also without his parents for about half of every week, and stays with his grandparents.

This has obviously been incredibly difficult for them as they battle for Dani's life, and they need all of the help they can get to afford simple household items not covered by food stamps like toilet paper and laundry soap etc...They also need your help to afford the gas for the trips back and forth to Houston, as they are running out of things to sell to cover that cost.   Please, they deserve some peace and a little less weight on their shoulders, when they already have so very much on their plate.

Any amount you can donate, even a dollar can make a world of difference for Dani and her family, if you can donate, and link to this page through your facebook or twitter encouraging your family and friends to do the same you will be the Angels this family needs this year.

None of this is fair, and we have no direct power to affect the outcome of Dani's battle, but we do have the power to keep her in our thoughts and prayers, and to do whatever we are able to alleviate their stress from their financial burden.  I know times are so hard right now for most of us, but if you were in the same situation you would hope people would reach out and do the same for you.  Help us pay this forward.  Thank you.
