My name is Lin van Kaam, and i've been dancing my whole life. The older i got, the more serious it became. It went from a hobby to a burning passion. Dancing once a week, now is traning a average of 50 hours every week. From dancing in my parents livingroom to studying at Oslo National Academy of the Arts/Faculty of Dance.
Oslo National Academy of the Arts or Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo(Khio) is a prestigious school and has students from all across the world. I am 1 of the lucky 8 that got accepted to the Bachelor program for contemporary/modern dance, in a total of ca. 300 applicant.
We are taught many different genres of dance. Classical ballet, Modern, Jazz are our main subjects. In addition to this we have a broad spectrum of other dances. Everything from Flamenco to Hip hop.
Halv a year ago i was introdused to somthing called Gaga developed by Ohad Naharin. It is a way of approaching dance or a movement language that really connected with me. I only got to take 2 workshops but that was more than enough for me to know that Gaga was something i wanted to pursue. These two whorshops really made an inpact on me.
There isnt many places where you can learn Gaga but
this summer there will be a Gaga intensiv course in Tel Aviv, Israel from 22. july-3.august. Ohad Naharin himself and dancers from his company, Batsheva, will hold the classes. That way I will get the best teachers there are. And i think this is the next step for me in persuing my passion for movment and dance.
